APOTHECARY HALLOWEEN TABLE DECOR

This dark Halloween table decor is as creepy and magical as it gets!  See how I blended vintage, new, and DIY decor to create a spooky apothecary tablescape….

Tablescapes are my go-to for holiday decorating.  Seasonal decor on my table sets the stage as soon as you walk into my home since my dining room is at the front of my house.

Sometimes, I go overboard with table decor.  But, I love to build it as big and bold as possible for Halloween.  It’s the one time of year I can channel my inner Morticia Adams and transform my dining room into the macabre and haunted dining hall it was always meant to be!

Here are some photos of the final creation and a list of any store-bought decor items below for shopping reference. I’ve also included the DIY tutorials from other blogs that I used to create the napkins, crystal balls, and apothecary bottles…

HALLOWEEN TABLE DECOR TUTORIALS

I utilized several other blogs for my Halloween table decor, including:

-DIY crystal balls made from candlesticks, clear Christmas ornaments, and screen prints (see Bev’s original post at Flamingo Toes for the full tutorial).

-DIY potion bottles, using thrifted bottles and free printables from Over the Big Moon

-And the show-stopper in this Halloween tablescape was the set of spell napkins. I followed an easy tutorial by Me and Annabel Lee.  You can purchase the templates in their Etsy shop.

MY APOTHECARY HALLOWEEN TABLE DECOR

The bulk of my apothecary Halloween table decor was made with vintage items.  I used larger brass pieces like the giant aftaba (long-spouted pitcher) as the centerpiece.  Then, I filled brass vases and containers with DIY black branches that I’d spray-painted a few days before. I also added a touch of faux spiderwebs to the branches, but didn’t add any to the rest of the table since it’s so easy to go overboard with cobwebs!

I added height and bulk with antique books and tried to keep the color scheme to black-gold-green.  Green velvet pumpkins added a hint of fall while the other decorations tied into the apothecary theme, like the cloches and tea-filled jars.

I used black Halloween gauze, black tulle, a feather boa, and black ostrich feathers as my base. This added a variety of texture. Vintage brass candlesticks and black candles were scattered throughout.

Happy Halloween!
