10 Vintage Farmhouse Decor Ideas on a Budget!

The rustic look of vintage farmhouse decor is classic and won’t be going out of style anytime soon. Here are my 10 favorite vintage farmhouse decor items, where to find them for cheap, and inspiration on how you can style them in your own home for that charming and rustic feel that we all love!

Where To Find the Best Vintage Farmhouse Decor

There are plenty of new farmhouse decor items on the market, but if you’re hoping to use actual vintage items, you’ll not only be using authentic pieces but also likely be saving money.

Here are my favorite places to find the best vintage farmhouse decor:

Online shopping

Stores on eBay and Etsy offer so many antiques and vintage items for sale. Online shopping is super convenient and a quick search of what you’re looking for will turn up plenty of results. Check out The Copper Goose Gathering Co. for some of my vintage decor items!

Other options are Facebook Marketplace, Mercari, and OfferUp.

My local auction companies also offer online bidding, which is quick and easy. All I have to do is pay to have the items shipped to me or pick them up myself in person on the pick-up date.

Antique Stores

If you’re looking for something specific, an antique store or vintage flea market may be your best bet. I especially love antique markets and vintage craft fairs that pop up at certain times of the year in my community. Facebook is a great source to check for these events!

Thrift Stores

Thrift Stores tend to be cheaper than antique stores or booths, but they can be hit and miss if you’re looking for something specific.

Yard Sales

You’ll find the best deals by far on vintage farmhouse decor at a yard sale! I’ve scored antique lamps for as little as $1.00!

Top 10 Vintage Farmhouse Decor Items

1. Thrifted Furniture

From antique poster beds to clawfoot tables, farmhouse furniture is functional and durable while still offering that rustic style that we all love. Sometimes, I find pieces that are great as-is, and other times I refinish or paint them to spruce them up. This $20 dresser was in rough shape when I bought it, but a little wood filler, stain, and paint went a long way to transform it into a robin’s egg blue beauty. You can see the full tutorial here.

Another project was this $15 drop leaf buffet which I refinished with stain and matte black paint.

2. Antique lamps

Vintage and antique lamps are a hot commodity these days! I love the look of milk glass lamps, like the hobnail milk glass lamp below.

3. Old Books

Distressed books are so easy to decorate – match them with a fun set of bookends or stack them up with another object acting as a paperweight to top the stack. You could also tie them with twine as part of a table centerpiece or use them as filler for a fireplace mantel decor.

The Copper Goose Gathering Co. always has vintage books for sale – it’s one of my favorite items to buy and use in my own home (I also collect antique history books, so I’m a little obsessed with finding places to source old books).

4. Milk Glass

Milk glass is the perfect farmhouse decor item! You can find cake stands, vases, lamps, and bowls all made from milk glass. You can get more inspiration and decorating ideas from this post: How to Decorate With Milk Glass.

5. Vintage Linens

I find the best vintage table linens at yard sales and estate sales. They are usually handmade and embroidered, and mix and match perfectly with my tablescapes, which I change out pretty often based on the season or holiday.

6. Baskets

Living in Kentucky, tobacco baskets are super popular. Wicker and wire baskets are great options, too, and vintage ones often offer a level of craftsmanship that replicas just can’t match. You can style oversized baskets with throw blankets and pillows or smaller ones with dried flowers.

Shallow baskets, like tobacco baskets, look great hanging on the wall or above a mantel. Spruce them up even more by layering them with a wreath, faux foliage, or a wooden cutout of your favorite saying.

7. Milk Cans

My in-laws ran a dairy farm for a long time and gave me a set of old milk cans that I was able to refinish and use as outdoor decor. This milk can looks great on my front porch and I can easily switch out the flowers and foliage for each season or holiday.

8. Quilts and Vintage Bedding

There’s nothing as cozy as an authentic vintage country quilt!

9. Rustic Kitchen Decor

Rolling pins, cutting boards, and antique utensils make great props to decorate your kitchen with and if they’re in decent shape, can double as usable kitchen items.

10. Vintage Mirrors

Mirrors are so expensive in stores, but I find that vintage mirrors can be found a lot cheaper and offer more charm than replicas. I found this mirror for $15 at a flea market, and love the look of the settled silver. It’s made its home on my fireplace mantel for a while, now.

So there are 10 vintage farmhouse decor items, the places you can find them, and some easy styling ideas to give your home a cozy, charming aura on a budget!
